Nokia launches 41-MP camera smartphone -Nokia 808 PureView

Finnish mobile phone maker Nokia has unveiled a new smartphone with an unprecedented 41-megapixel camera.
The 450 Euros device, 808 PureView, runs on software that Nokia is reportedly phasing out in favour of the Windows Phone.
The new smartphone, which was announced at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, is expected to launch in Europe in May, The Telegraph reports.
With 41 MP, the phone is able to shoot images that Nokia claims can be printed in "poster size".
Files, however, condense four or five pixels into one, and Nokia claims they are smaller than equivalent products from rivals.
A Carl Zeiss lens shoots in continuous focus HD video, at 1080p.
Mary McDowell, the firm's executive vice president for mobile phones, said the company's engineers had been working on the product "for years".
She said it was "natural" to assume that its technology would be used in other Nokia products in the future.
McDowell added that while the device was larger than its rivals, it was still sized to fit in pockets, rather than replace a full-size camera.
According to the report, the device uses a 1.3GHz processor, comes with 16GB of storage and runs a 4" screen at 360 x 640, which is below HD resolution.

Angry over unwanted calls, SMSes? Try Metro Block It

The new app allows users to quickly identify the numbers from which they want to block calls and messages.

A new app, named Metro Block It, has been launched in the Android Market that users can employ to block unwanted calls and SMSes. With Metro Block It, you can block calls and messages from anonymous and some particular numbers.
In India, mobile phone users have the option to register themselves in the Do Not Call Registry if they do not want to receive calls from telemarketers. However, calls and SMSes from telemarketers have not been stopped completely. Also, if you have not registered, you can use this app that gives an effective solution to this problem.
The Metro Block It has been developed by PrivacyStar, which makes apps for Android and BlackBerry smartphones, in association with MetroPCS, an American mobile phone service provider.
"We understand our customers' needs and, with mobile devices being the primary phone and Internet device for many of our customers, recognize the need to provide them with a service that allows for uninterrupted use and control over their primary lifeline to the world," said Tom Keys, president and chief operating officer of MetroPCS.
"We're excited about working with PrivacyStar to meet the needs of our users and continue providing voice, text and data services, along with great features like Metro Block-it, at an incredible value," added Keys.
The app is available for free for all users with Android 1.5 and above devices. To download the app, click here.

How to move apps to SD card on Android smartphone

By moving large apps to the SD card, you can improve your Android smartphone's performance.

Usually, Google Android OS based smartphones in India have 2 GB to 16 GB/32 GB on-board storage.

After installing about 20-30 apps, the phone usually start to slow down. To fix this, the best option is to move the installed applications to the SD card storage.
A simple Android application — App 2 SD Free lets the user move applications installed on the phone memory to mobile storage, i.e. the SD card or external storage.
Step One
Download, Install App 2 SD and open it.
Step Two
Tap the app you wish to move to the SD card or USB storage. Note that apps showing the 'x' symbol on their icon can't be moved.
Step Three
The app will take you to the settings interface and you should scroll to find a "Move to SD Storage" or "Move to USB Storage" button.
Repeat the same process for all the applications to be moved.
Once the app has been moved to SD card storage, the internal memory of the phone will have free space for new apps, or you could leave it empty to make your device faster.

TOP 5 ROFL GADGETS

1.Private Laptop Viewer

129 Top 10 Weird & Funny Gadgets In the World
Have you ever wanted some privacy while using your computer?  Have you ever been in a public space where anyone can look over your shoulder and steal your idea for the next brilliant blog post?  But most importantly, have you ever been using your computer and had the nagging feeling that, while you enjoy using your computer, it would be so much better if you could look like a molting mutant Muppet while doing so?  Well, now here’s your chance.
These aren’t made to be sold, but are rather for some sort of artistic vision.

2.Uno Motorbike

125 Top 10 Weird & Funny Gadgets In the World
Built by Ben J. Poss Gulak, it’s an electric vehicle having  just one control —a power switch— and everything else is done by leaning, which must make for one hell of an adrenaline-packed ride. The Uno’s speed is controlled by how far you lean forward or back.

3.Gangster CD Stereo Sneakers
120 Top 10 Weird & Funny Gadgets In the World
Yes folks, we live in a really really geeky world where people does not only think of a crazy gadget like this but also turn them into reality.
The Gangster CD Stereo Sneaker is a sneaky way to play your favorite tracks. Resembling the looks of a shoe, the stereo sneaker can intake CDs and blast out music.
4.Maple Phone
128 Top 10 Weird & Funny Gadgets In the World
Transforming a popular product into a wooden version is a bizarre development, but the cell phone has just undergone such treatment. The Maple Phone has been developed by two Koreans, Hyun Jin Yoon and Eun Hak Lee as they prove that phones do not need to follow the same trend of plastic products. The wooden phone exhibits a touch sensitive keypad and also a camera. For the touchpad to work correctly, we believe that some different materials are used, as this would be impossible based on wood alone. The phone is great from an environmental perspective, since wood is a natural source and completely renewable. Perhaps this will pave the way for future wooden products, for example wooden MP3 players, wooden laptops, wooden televisions etc.
The wooden phone does not look particularly appealing, and will no doubt be heavier than the traditional plastic. At the moment, it looks like a block of wood with some numbers and stickers placed on the front. Nevertheless it would be great to get our hands on one and compare it with a more conventional plastic cell phone.

Top 5 camera phones

Today mobile phones come with advanced cameras with features like advanced optics, complex image sensors and a whole lot of technology running in the background. In fact, today digital cameras are having a tough time selling in numbers all thanks to the camera phones.

Apple iPhone 4s — 8 Megapixel (Price Rs 44,300)
Touted as the fastest iPhone, this handset is truly a remarkable device from Apple. The iPhone 4s comes with a sleek, sharp and thinner design that is similar to its predecessor — the iPhone 4. The fifth-generation model of Apple iPhone comes with a similar 3.5 inch screen with 640 X 960 pixel resolution which is known as the Retina display, the highest resolution display ever built into a phone, and FaceTime for video calling. The display has also been treated with a special oleo phobic coating which is very useful for the Indian environment.
The phone has got an 8 megapixel camera as compared to the 5 megapixel of iPhone 4. The camera has an LED flash also for illumination. The 8 megapixel snapper uses the one of the best image sensors to reproduce life like colours with detail and variance. The camera can also record full HD 1080p video and get functionalities like touch focus and Geo tagging. Along with this, the upgraded OS 5 and a mighty faster dual core processor makes it easier to edit and share pictures.
Apple users can also make use of the Apple iCloud service to store their pictures. Apple is offering 5 GB of space free on iCloud to all its users.
Nokia N8 with Anna — 12 Megapixel (Price Rs 22,000)
Many camera phones have come and gone but this device of Nokia continues to top the charts due to its amazing camera quality. The Nokia N8 boasts of Carl Zeiss optics, a 12 megapixel 1/1.183 inch optical format CCD image sensor, Xenon flash with automatic red-eye removal and auto focus. This type of a sensor has never been used in a camera phone before that makes the N8 unique to its technology and allows it to capture images that are far better in terms of resolution and variance as far as pictures are concerned.
With the Symbian Anna upgrade, the Nokia N8 has gotten newer video recording capabilities such as continuous auto focus, 720P video recording capability. Besides, N8 users can record videos in 30 frames /second as opposed to present 24 frames / second earlier.
Not just the camera, the N8 is an equally excellent device with good hardware and a very responsive and vibrant 3.5 inch touchscreen which makes usage of this device a breeze. The speedy 600 MHz processor might sound puny in front of the bigger multi core competitors but it has been optimised so beautifully that there is virtually no lag in anything you do on this device.
Samsung Galaxy Note — 8 Megapixel (Price Rs 32,299)
Apart from having the biggest smartphone screen, the Galaxy Note is by far the fastest Android smartphone available to the Indian customers. The Galaxy Note is powered by a faster 1.4 GHzdual core processor and comes with a 5.3 inch Super Amoled plus screen and 16 GB inbuilt memory. Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc -8 Megapixel (Price Rs 29,000)
Although Sony Ericsson has upgraded the Arc to Arc S, somehow the former gives better camera wise performance than the later. In the past, we have seen world class camera phones that offer best in class photography options and results coming from the brand Sony Ericsson and the Arc is no exception to that.
The Arc features an 8.1 megapixel camera with HD video capability featuring Sony's exclusive Exmor R (CMOS) based image sensor that enhances still images and videos even in low light conditions.
