Here's how it works...

If you are browsing Facebook and spot a suicidal post, you can click on a Report Suicidal Content link next to the comment. Facebook will rely solely on it's users to detect these comments, so its up to us to act as first responders, get immediate help for our friends who are suffering.

Once Facebook receives a report, they will send an e-mail to the troubled individual. For months now, the e-mails have provided numbers of crisis hotlines and encouraged users to call. But now they're expanding the service.

In addition to the phone support, Facebook is offering a link to a confidential Facebook chat session with a professional. Since many people would rather talk online rather than the phone, they hope to reach out to more users.

A quick scan of Facebook, and I couldn't find the link to report suicidal content. But I imagine it will be rolling out soon. And the sooner, the better.
